Starting his career as a realtor in 1992 and then moving to insurance sales in 1994,
Pieter's love for business led him to establishing his first Independent Adjusting firm in
1997 in South Africa which focused substantially in local and international marine cargo
risk and loss management, assets in transit, hazardous chemical losses, commercial and
specialty electronic equipment and loss of data losses.
As part of his cargo practice, Pieter developed and established a network of
adjusting firms and incident response services across Southern Africa serving territories
from Cape Town, South Africa all the way to Lusaka Zambia. He managed these as a
control adjuster and incident manager for local and international clients.
Pieter sold his company in 2006 before departing to Europe.
While in Europe Pieter worked for a large multinational oil company (Exxon Mobil) as a
Procurement Manager responsible for Corporate procurement for over 200 Exxon Mobil
affiliates across Africa, Europe and the Middle East.
Arriving in Canada in 2009 Pieter joined the ranks of Cunningham Lindsey in Prince
George in BC and then relocated to Halifax Nova Scotia in 2010, still with Cunningham
Lindsey.
In 2014, Pieter decided to set out on his own and together with Torgny Vigerstad, PhD
established EECM Ltd. This company focuses primarily on property, commercial, liability, cargo and environmental losses.
EECM Ltd. also offers software solutions specific to insurance industry service providers.
Pieter's passion for social enterprise helped inspire the development of Omnia Adjusters Cooperative.
As one of the founders of the Cooperative, Pieter is committed to its success.
